Who we are

Commanding a supreme position on the banks of the River Ouse, the Grade-I listed Lendal Tower is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the historic city of York. Originally built around 700 years ago, it has been exquisitely renovated into luxury self-catering accommodation for up to six people with three stunning bedrooms. Blending medieval splendour with contemporary comforts, it provides a truly unique place to stay in York.

Built in the early 14th century as part of the city’s defences, it once worked alongside its counterpart across the river to control access with a heavy chain, protecting York and regulating trade. In later centuries, the tower took on a new life as the city’s waterworks, helping to supply fresh water using early mechanical systems. Today, this Grade I listed landmark stands as a rare and characterful reminder of York’s layered past, where medieval engineering, industry, and heritage come together in one remarkable building.
